African Horseback and Conservation Experience
If you love horses and want to learn about and experience the African Bush, then this program will be ideally suited to you.
Every day you will be caring for horses and riding them whist you check on the numerous game species that inhabit the reserve. You’ll also take part in very informative and highly structured Conservation and Equine courses.
This Volunteer in Africa program will give you a thorough grounding in conservation skills, aspects of African wildlife and looking after horses. You’ll enjoy being part of a very relaxed life style outdoors, where horses, wildlife and people mix peacefully in the stunning surroundings of the wilderness of Africa.
Project LocationThis program is based in a privately owned game park located at the bottom of the Northern Drakensberg Mountains (situated west of the famous Kruger National Park). You will be 12 kilometres from Hoedspruit, set in the peaceful environment of South Africa’s Limpopo Province.
Accommodation & MealsYou’ll be staying in a rustic lodge set in the bush. These are wooden chalets with thatched roofs. Normally there be 2-3 volunteers per room. You’ll have access to showers and toilets near to the rooms. They are all open air structures with running hot water! That means you can take a shower and gaze at the stars under the African skies at the same time!
Helping to make food on rotational basis, you’ll receive three meals daily.
