Become a Jackaroo or Jillaroo in the real Aussie outback! Get paid for an outback experience of a lifetime. Food and accommodation included too. From picking grapes to mustering cattle, enjoy a great outback experience in an awesome landscape that you’ll remember forever.
On this Australian gap experience, you’ll be able to work in the following jobs if you have the skills: motor bike riders, horseback riders, joiners, carpenters, builders and tractor drivers: anyone with farm experience, veterinary and agricultural students – anyone really enjoys getting dirty.
The ProgrammeThursday - Monday morning: Met by one of our team at Brisbane Airport, you’ll be allowed to relax at Brisbane Backpacker’s Resort Hostel. You’ll spend four nights based in the hostel, and also have the chance to explore Brisbane, taking advantage of many of the excursions and day trips available. Monday: By the morning of Monday, you’ll be chilled out and ready for the next transfer to the training ranch based in north western Queensland. You’ll arrive in time for lunch at the ranch. After that, you’ll have a leisurely introduction to the training program. This could include riding quads through the bush or cantering your horse in the wild lands surrounded by wallabies, kangaroos and koalas.
Tuesday to Friday: Beginning of the training program. This covers cattle and horse work, learning to drive a tractor, quad and motorbike. Through the training phase, you’ll be given details of potential work, and get advice in what would probably be the best job for you. A job is guaranteed by the last day of the program and on Saturday you’ll leave ready to journey to your new work.
Experience not necessary
If you feel you need more training and experience, we have a longer program that runs for another seven days. It’ll help you to feel more confident before you venture out.
Programme Location
You will fly to Brisbane for your transfer, orientation, accommodation and training. You are, though, free to go wherever you want to in Australia. We can find you work in ranches all over Australia.
Accommodation & Meals
The first four nights are based at a comfortable youth hostel at Brisbane. The following five days are at the training ranch. After the training program you’ll have the chance to continue traveling around Australia or begin work straight away. Accommodation and food is nearly always included with your job. If not, you’ll receive more pay to cover your costs.
