You be trained in a safari based lodge in one of South Africa’s many stunning locations.
The Field Guide CourseThis is a highly serious course for one year, designed to give you a respected qualification and license as a field guide for nature reserves. During the course you will receive six months of practical training. Once you’ve done this, you’ll be placed at one of the leading South African Safari lodges to gain another six months experience working in “real life” situations. By the end of this work placement you’ll be able to identify and track most of Africa’s wildlife.
Your practical instruction will include lessons on the following:
- Game counts
- Field research
- Erosion control

- Water point maintenance
A very flexible course, it has to cope with the constantly changing and volatile environments of Africa. The course is fairly open so that you may be able to take advantage of opportunities that will invariably spring up during your time on it.
