Volunteer Role

This rewarding opportunity will give immeasurable help to the adults and children of the more deprived areas of the Rajasthan community.

Help Teachers

Class sizes in India can be very large, so education volunteers can offer much needed support to the local teachers – freeing up their time to teach the children rather than to supervise the groups. Volunteers also teach English and Maths to the children.

Child-care
Working in the local child-care centers known as Aanganbaris, volunteers provide day-to-day care for pregnant women and individual care for young children.  Volunteers also ensure that the take up of the sessions is maximized.

Project Location

You will be met at Delhi airport and transferred to a hotel for a relaxing overnight stay before taking a train to Jaipur for a three day orientation.  You will stay with a local Indian family for this part of the program.  Volunteers then move on to a small town in the Rajasthan desert called Shiv where they will be based for the rest of the project.

Accommodation & Meals

Accommodation is comfortable, clean but basic - in a mud hut complete with en suite bathroom!

All buffet meals are served in the dining area.  Volunteers may use the internet, telephone and DVD/TV facilities. There are plenty of outdoor games and a volleyball net for the more active.

Although all meals are included, volunteers also have the opportunity to buy food and drink
