Maasai Lion Research Kenya
You will directly work with the Maasai people in Kenya on this voluntary project. If you want to be immersed in working with wildlife and local communities in Africa, this is a superb project to be involved with. To work with the Maasai Tribe is a privilege rarely experienced by most volunteers, and you will gain an knowledge of the authentic culture of these people not known by most westerners.
The project is divided into two-week blocks that will allow you get involved in two of the Maasai programs: the choice of working with: Colobus monkeys, elephants and lions.
Volunteer RoleThe program’s aim is conserving the local endangered lion populating in the region. As a conservation project Kenya Volunteer you will helping gather essential information such as researching the behavior of the lions, monitoring them and learning about them directly from the Maasai people. By being involved in this project you will come away with a substantial knowledge of lion populations and the culture of the Maasai Tribe.
This is vital and highly valued work as lions are rapidly diminishing in numbers and sightings are now rare. You will be part of a very rewarding project.
Project LocationLocated in the Tsavo West National Park region, you will be based at the research camp and will participate in monitoring daily lion activity in the locality.
