Martial Arts Academy China
Over the coming months and years Kung Fu is expected to develop worldwide as the martial art is set to be introduced as an Olympic sport in Beijing next year.
The Shaolin Kung Fu Academy is offering Real Sport students the opportunity to train and gain knowledge of this historic martial art. You will be guided by some of the finest Shaolin trained Masters located in China based in the foothills of the beautiful Kunyu Moutains to the East of the country.
Students of all ages and abilities are welcome to train full time and to learn varying forms of Wushu (the Chinese word for Kung Fu). Set in the most glorious surroundings, the precise state of mind and true meaning and sense of the art form can be attained by students.
Martial Arts ProgrammeYou are will be able to specify which form of Kung Fu you would like to study. Those who already have a basic understanding of the art may like to improve on their existing expertise or you may wish to start from scratch. The amount you train and learn will depend on your level of skill and the length of your stay at the Academy.
A standard training program for one to three months would typically include:
- Theory and history of Shaolin Kung Fu
- Flexibility training
- Introduction to Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Sanda (kickboxing) and 1 to 6 Shaolin fist forms
- Basic punching and kicking
- Low-level weapons training i.e. with staff, sword or whip
- Mandarin lessons
Students who stay for between one and three months should leave the Academy with the ability to chop a brick in two using their bare fists.
Accommodation and MealsAll accommodation is based at the Academy. Each student will have a private room with shared bathroom facilities. Occasionally, students may need to share a room with one other person. Accommodation is fairly basic with one or two single beds and a closet for personal possessions. Most rooms have a writing table or desk.
All meals are prepared and provided for on-site at the Academy. Dishes are usually fairly basic but are made using local produce and to authentic taste. Meals often include rice, chicken and vegetables although specific dietary needs can be catered for.
