If you’ve ever wanted to experience the life of a modern day cowboy, you’ll be given an insight into ranch life on this volunteer program. You’ll be involved in daily activities including cattle driving, gathering cattle, herding and lassoing horses, riding trails and getting involved in general chores. You’ll be allocated a horse appropriate to your experience or level of riding and whatever you wish to achieve during the four-week program. We aim to tailor this program as much to you as we can.

Volunteer Role

Volunteers get involved in activities with weekly visitors to the ranch from Sundays through to Friday every week. These include veterinary procedures such as vaccinating the horses, riding the horses on trails, checking fences (including replacing the fences if they’re damaged by wildlife), herding cattle, and going out riding with adults, parents and children.

You’ll also have the chance to take part in other activities such as longer trail rides, trips to nearby towns and helping in special clinics that are held over the weekends.

You’ll find that you’ll develop an amazing bond with your horse as you both participate in activities at the ranch every day. You’ll also learn how to go about ranch duties in a team set up. During your time on the ranch, you’ll really come to understand what life is like on horse back for modern American ranch hands, and you’ll see a great deal of this stunning region’s landscape from horse back too.
