This Real Gap Sports Experience project based in South Africa gives you fantastic opportunity to develop your rugby playing skills in the world’s keenest and best rugby playing environments. As far as many South Africans are concerned not only is it the finest sport but also the only worthwhile sport as well. If you participate in this academy you’ll be taught by some of greatest international coaches who are enthusiastic to pass on their skills in the game.

Rugby Academy Programme

Run in partnership with the University of Cape Town, this Rugby Training Academy allows aspiring young players a chance to train, live, talk and sleep their rugby for one complete month. You’ll be trained in a professional atmosphere intended to increase your development and playing standards. During that whole month you’ll undergo the same rigorous training program as a rugby playing professional.

Rugby Coaching:
The program aims not only to develop positional and skill elements of players, but will also coach them in nutritional and premier performance aspects. So each student leaves the academy with a fully rounded, all encompassing experience of professional training. You’ll also be trained to develop positive game-winning attitudes and tough mental training in improving performance and playing.

Local Rugby Club:
You’ll either be placed at the Villagers Rugby Club or one of the number of Cape Town University sides. These clubs are some of South Africa’s best and have nurtured players such as Bob Skinstadt, Matt Stevens, Stuart Abbott, Percy Montgomery and Roby Fleck. Alan Solomons, ex-Ulster and Assistant Springbok Coach, is currently working with UCT First XV.

Accommodation & Meals

All accommodation is part of the program price.  You’ll live in an apartment with other Rugby Training Academy students in a very safe part of Cape Town.

Our highly experienced locally based caterers provide meals that are especially tailored to your personal diet and tastes.   The meals will also be designed according to your training needs and plans, for instance fat/weight gain or loss etc.
