Santiago Orphanage Project - Chile

Volunteering on this excellent program will give you a unique chance to care for some of Santiago’s orphans. Often deserted by families that either can’t afford to, or don’t wish to care for them, these young children desperately need affection and love.

The Volunteer Role

You will be helping at one of two shelters that have been set up to care for babies and toddlers, from birth to four year old! The children are based at the shelter for legal reasons whether to shield them from abusive families, or because they are to be adopted with the aim of finding an appropriate home for them, once the Chilean Justice system has made a judgment on their future.

Your daily tasks include feeding, bathing, waking and caring for the toddlers and babies. Attention and love is what they greatly need, giving them the best start in life possible.

As the centers are always understaffed and overworked, your help is greatly appreciated. As a minimum, you will be needed to volunteer for 10 hrs per week. If you can offer more time, it is very much welcomed.

Based in Santiago, the capital city of Chile

Accommodation & Meals

For both the language school and volunteer package, you will stay with a Chilean host family. Our host families are very carefully screened and have to meet stringent requirements before being accepted on the program. Host families provide most meals.

If you choose the volunteering program alone, you will stay at a hostel. Breakfast is included but you will have to arrange your own meals.

Programme Summary:
Volunteers help with the day-to-day activities at the orphanage centre, including feeding, washing and bathing the children.
