Sucre Orphanage Volunteer Bolivia

The youngsters of Sucre orphanage have rarely benefited from a caring and stable relationship. Instead they have faced heart-break, fear and bewilderment. By offering care and attention to these young children, volunteers enrich their lives and distract them from the plight in which they find themselves. The rewards to the children and to the volunteers themselves are immense.

If you are considering applying for a placement at the Sucre Orphanage, it would be enormously beneficial to speak Spanish. If you cannot already speak the language, you should consider enrolling on one of our courses that will provide you with a basic knowledge of Spanish and help you in your volunteer placement and future travel around South America.

Volunteer Role

Volunteers are urgently required to organize leisure activities for the children including drawing, dancing, music, painting and sport. You will also help in their daily care including cooking, cleaning and feeding.

Owing to the changing daily needs of the orphanage, volunteers to this project must be flexible and able to work on their own initiative. You will be expected to help for a morning or afternoon session (or both).

Your role will have a direct impact on the lives of these young children who will benefit from your care both now and in the future.

Learn the Language
Your life will be made considerably easier if you can converse in Spanish – even at a basic level. If you cannot speak the language, you should consider combining this project with our language school program. Speak to your consultant for further details.

Project Location

This project is located in the lively and beautiful colonial city of Sucre; the second largest city in Bolivia. The appeal of this city is enhanced by the large indigenous populations that preserve their customs and colorful dress.

Accommodation & Meals

You will stay in our volunteer apartment which is a short walk (20 minutes) from the orphanage.

Meals are not included in the program, so we recommend volunteers rotate shopping and cooking duties or to eat out.

1 weeks language followed by 4 weeks project only - $1209/€849,
2 weeks language followed by 4 weeks project only - $1479/€1099,
4 weeks language followed by 4 weeks project only - $2039/€1499,
