Tanzania Reach Out to Children

In the rural Arusha area of north Tanzania, numerous secondary and nursery schools along with orphanages exist. They are attended by local poor and orphaned children in the community. If you volunteer on this program you’ll be offering vital help to some of these children and giving them a rare opportunity to improve the quality of their lives.

You also have the opportunity to become involved with community projects such as Awareness programs about HIV/AIDS and supporting local groups of women.

The Volunteer Project

Whilst volunteering in Tanzania, you have the choice of teaching essential academic subjects such Science, Math, English or Sport each day at the local secondary level school. Or you can work at the nursery each morning and go on to the secondary community school afternoons. More importantly these children will have the opportunity of some love and attention, as well as someone helping them to avoid life on the streets.

Because the schools lack some many resources, in terms of books and materials along with sports items and equipment, if you can take any of these along, it would be highly welcome.

Based in Arusha in North Tanzania.

Accommodation & Meals

Situated some five kilometers from Arusha City, you’ll be sharing a very comfortable house with other volunteers. You sleep in a dorm-style bedroom with two to five other volunteers. You might find yourself using the local taxi service (a mini bus called a “dala-dala”) to get to the nursery and schools, which are not very far away.

You will receive breakfast and dinner, and if you work on projects at the house at lunch times, you’ll receive a small lunch.
