Zambia Teaching Programme
This project is based in Livingstone, near to the stunning backdrop of Victoria Falls. It is also has a reputation as being an excellent center for water adventure sports. You’ll be working either as a teaching assistant in a school, or teaching them sport activities. You’ll be involved in creating structured environments where children learn sports. Previously, they would have been left to their own devices, and in getting into dangerous situations on the street.
Zambia’s government, because money and resources are limited, operates a “hot-seat” policy where children have to take turns in going to school. Some schools even have to have three different sessions a day, rotating pupils. This seriously affects the children’s educations. You will helping to make up for that short-fall in standards by supplying the attention and instruction they need.
Volunteer Role
On your Zambia Voluntary placement program, you’ll receive a full orientation on the locality and meet the community with which you will be working on these projects. You’ll be helping hundreds of deprived children learn academic skills and improve on their existing sports skills. Most of these children have lost their families through AIDS and you’ll be giving them guidance and helping them to a better start in life than they might otherwise have had. You’ll also experience a number of interesting social development programs that intend to help many underprivileged groups in this community.
You’ll make life long friends on this program and gain a great insight into real Zambian life.
